Ruff You

Valentines Day is just around the corner.  Here's a card that would be appreciated by your dog loving friends.  The dog stamp and sentiment are from the Stamp N Plus' Puparazzo series and can be found HERE.  I stamped the pup on some tan-colored velour paper and highlighted the image with my Prismacolor pencils.  The paw print heart was a cut-out from some designer paper.  The image and scalloped circle were cut with Spellbinder dies.  The background paper was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  A red & brown ribbon & cream colored plastic heart button complete the design.

Happy Monday...I "ruff you,"  Paulette Akagi

Valentines

PK Glitz had a promotion to allow you to try their new Vintage Hues Art Acetates.  They sent me two images as samples to try.  I love vintage and these acetates are so fun to work with and the technique results in a beautiful effect.  You can see a video of the technique HERE.

For the first card I used Glitter Glitz "Sunset" on the heart.  Other products used were DCWV paper, a Cuttlebug Valentine embossing folder, a Spellbinders Venetian Motifs die, a Nellie Snellen die, and Peel-Off Stickers.  Flower was from the Michaels $1.50 bin.
On the second card,

I used "Sunset" Glitter Glitz, paper by DCWV, gold key is from the Paper Dreams Factory, frame is from a thrift store find and I added a pre-made bow and a silk flower attached with a pink pearl brad.

Have a good weekend.  Paulette Akagi

Romance Novel Inchies

I bought a trashy romance novel at the Friends of the Library book sale for 25 cents.  Words and phrases in the novel were the inspiration for these inchies.  These 1" square collages are some of the inchies I am creating for a 100 Inchies swap on Splitcoast Stampers.

Happy Thursday,  Paulette Akagi

Retro Shoe

My mom had spectator pumps like these back in the 40's.  And every so often, like lots of fashion fads, these shoes come back into fashion.  This Stamp N Plus stamp can be found on this page.  It is #M1646.  I chose a red, black & white color scheme.  I stamped the shoe on white cardstock with red ink and used a Spellbinders die to cut the circle and the black mat.  I used a Spellbinders scalloped die to cut the red mat.  This was then mounted on polka dot designer paper and then a black base.  I added a ready-made bow and a border of red metal mesh that is reminiscent of the material used in the vintage of Whiting & Davis.  Happy Monday!  Paulette Akagi

Graphic 45 Inchies

I'm participating in a 100 inchie swap on Splitcoast Stampers.  Here's my first 6, only 94 more to go.
I used some G45 designer paper to cut out the inchies with a 1" square punch. Inchies were embellished with flowers cut with the Spellbinders cherry blossoms die and leaves punched from a Punch Bunch punch. Wings were embellished with Stickles, flower centers were embellished with either Stickles or liquid pearls. Inchies were edged with a gold leaf Krylon pen.

A Gown for the Golden Globes

The stars were out in Hollywood tonight for the Golden Globe Awards.  I like to imagine one of the nominees or presenters walking the Red Carpet in my gold & silver gown.

I used a Stamp N Plus stamp from this collection --- Q-IR061.  It is an iris fold stamp.  I chose a satin finish, gold paper from my stash for the bodice.  The skirt was fashioned from two styles of wired Christmas ribbon (you can see how the wired edge on the silver ribbon gives the gown an embroidered look).  I added some jewels and some Sizzix die flourishes and my design was complete.

You too can be a dress designer with these easy to use iris fold fashion stamps.  Try one---you will be amazed at how fun and easy they are to work with.

Congratulations to all the talented actresses who attended the awards show...Happy Monday.

A Design for the Red Carpet

It's Award Season in Hollywood and all the celebrities will be posing on the red carpet in their designer gowns.  I like to choose the iris fold dress stamps that can be found HERE on the Stamp N Plus website to play "Dress Designer to the Stars" and create gowns for an imaginary red carpet.

The image is stamped on a glittery white cardstock from DCWV.  The dress outline is cut out using a craft knife.  Working from the backside of the paper and using the lines on the stamped dress, I used some foil gift wrap to fashion the dress.  The white cardstock was then matted on glittery red cardstock and then added to a white card base.  The gold flourishes were cut from gold foiled cardstock with a die by Marianne Creatables.  The flowers are German Scrap from The Paper Dreams Factory.

Stamp N Plus has a variety of iris fold dress design stamps to choose from and the numbered patterns make it easy to create fabulous fashions.  You can become the next Coco Chanel ... Happy Monday!  Paulette Akagi

OOPS!!!

I am in a Pick-A-Theme swap on Splitcoaststampers.  Bonnie, one of my swap mates, chose the theme "Oops!"  I made this Artist Trading Card to depict her theme.  The ladies stamp is by Art Impressions and was colored with Prismacolor pencils and cut out.  Rhinestone bling was added to glam up the girlfriends.  The ATC is actually 2 cards attached by a pink brad in the upper left corner.  The quote is a stamp by Creative Visions, Inc.  I cut out the "Oops" from Sizzix letter dies.  The paper is by DCWV.  The curved, black arrow is a brad.
Hope this card makes you Giggle...but there's no need for Depends!                                                          Paulette
