Runway Inspired Challenge #58 and CAS(E) this sketch #73

I've been intrigued with the Runway Inspired Challenges and decided it was time to try one.  The challenge is also linked with a Sketch Challenge blog so this card was designed for both challenges.

Below is the Trina Turk outfit and the sketch:

My flowers were made from red vellum using a Stampin Up Blossom punch.  For the second tier of petals I cut a slit in the flower and glued the two petals adjoining the slit together to create a bit of dimension.  Before gluing this second tier to the bottom layer, I cut off the cone shape formed when I glued the two petals together.  The center was cut from a dotted paper with a sun punch.  To form the circular layer I used a B&W dotted semi-circle and a white paper doily.  The butterfly was cut with a Marianne Creatables die and the label was made with Spellbinders Nestabilities.  I think the black and white pattern paper I chose for the butterfly and label is quite similar to the material used for the shorts.  "Smile" is a stamp from Stamp N Plus Scrap N.  It is part of a set that is not currently on their website but can be ordered by calling LuAnn at 715-271-1873.

There's a bit of pale blue in the sweater and my design needed a little something to fill the white space in the upper right corner.  I added a few pale blue rhinestones.

3-D Ribbon Flowers in Black & White

Sorry for the off-color---my camera went missing and I had to "phone this one in." I made this for this week's technique challenge on Splitcoaststamper using ribbon flowers I made using the Jenn Cochrane's technique tutorial here: http://www.jaxbeanstalks.blogspot.co...-tell-all.html

The stamp is by Studio 112 ($1 at JoAnns) and the ribbon was also $1 from Tuesday Morning.  I added some bling for balance.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Meet Savannah

I found so much inspiration from the online catalog chosen for this week's Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  When I saw this tee on the inspiration website, I remember this stamp that has never seen ink: http://www.marksandspencer.com/giraf...olour=WhiteMix
I named my giraffe Savannah after the habitat of giraffes in Africa.
The stamp is from Taylored Artworks, the paper is by DCWV and the leaves were die cut with a Joy Crafts! die,

Springtime Tulip

My favorite challenge on Splitcoaststampers is the Inspiration Challenge.  A website with many images is chosen and the challenge is to design a card based on one of the images on the site.  This week's challenge a catalog of kids clothing and accessories comes from this pair of ballet slippers:

Show Me the Bunny!

I designed this card using 3 challenges on Splitcoaststampers:  a color challenge---pink, vanilla and pistachio, using ovals and having a bunny as part of the design.

The stamp is from WhipperSnapper Designs, the pattern paper is from DCWV, the die cut branches were cut with a die from CC Designs.  I added a few Stickles for embellishment.  The image and leaves were colored with Prismacolor pencils.

Tina's Singin' in the Rain

I designed this card for Viva Las Vegas Stamps' Blog April Challenge.  The Mood Board that prompts the inspiration for this ATC is shown below:

I used a Viva Las Vegas Stamp called "Singer Belting It Out."  She looks a lot like Tina Turner.  Elements I used from the Mood Board include the color yellow, the female figure, the umbrella (it's made of wood, colored with a marker and embellished with gems), the polka dots and the flowers.

They're predicting rain for Easter Sunday...Tina must be rehearsing for a performance of "Singin' in the Rain!"..................Paulette

Dream Catcher

I made this card for the DCWV sketch challenge for April.  It was not my intention to create a dream catcher but once my card was assembled, I thought it resembled a stylized dream catcher.
Here is the sketch:

All the papers are from the DCWV Formal Affair stack including the word "LOVE."  The background was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.  The scalloped circles were cut with Spellbinders dies.  I added some rhinestone gems and a lacy silver Starforms sticker.

May all your dreams come true...............Paulette

Asian Twinchies

I used Bird Song paper from Graphic 45 to make this twinchie for the "Anything Goes" swap category.  The fan, Asian coin and butterfly are Starform stickers.  I used some red metallic threads and an Asian text bead to embellish.

This second twinchie that I call "madame Butterfly" also uses the Bird Song G45 papers.  The flowers were punched from a Punch Bunch corner punch, sculpted with a stylus and the centers were embellished with Stickles.  I further embellished this twinchie with some multi-colored metallic thread and a paper butterfly from Recollections.

Have a Nice Day!

I combined 2 Splitcoaststampers challenges this week: Free for All which requires taking a "slice" off the side of the card front and the Inspiration Challenge using AIGA Design Archives. My inspiration was this grumpy face:
http://designarchives.aiga.org/#/ent...oetrope-no-3/1

Stamps used are American Impressions and Hero Arts (sentiment).  The robe and slippers are paper pieced.  Papers are by DCWV.  Flowers are part of a scrapbook border.

There are severe weather warnings out today...might be why this chick is looking so grumpy.  I'm sure her mood will change once she's had her coffee.

Have a Great Day!.................Paulette

Happy Easter to My Peeps

This brings back memories of my childhood in the 40's & 50's when my favorite Easter memory was shopping for an Easter bonnet for church.  I designed this card for two challenges on Splitcoaststampers---The color challenge (blue, yellow & sand) and a sketch challenge using this sketch:

The stamp is from PSX, the pattern paper is DCWV and the plain papers are from Darice.

Hope you have a favorite Easter memory.................Paulette

Entered in Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog:  Challenge #5---Pick a Stamp, Any Stamp!

It's Peter Cottontail!

My niece, Angie, is selling her stamps so I thought I'd take these WhipperSnapper Design stamps for a spin before they go to the used stamp sale.  I used a Darice embossing folder, did a bit of paper piecing and added a few gems and Stickles.

Have a great day!...................Paulette

Embedded Die Technique

The Try a New Technique Challenge on Splitcoaststampers this week is called "Embedded Die."  You can read  more about it here:  Embedded Flower
I used the Memory Box Honeyblossom die to cut out the sprig of flowers from the purple, the pink and the lime paper (DCWV Cherry Limeade Paper Stack). I embedded the sprig from the lime paper into the negative space left in the purple paper when the die cut was popped out of it. I fussy cut the attachments on the flowers and buds that were die cut from the pink paper, these pink flowers were not embedded but pasted on top of the green die cut. I used 2 die cuts of the pink paper cut with the Spellbinders label die to lengthen it so that the lime die cut also cut from the same label die created a border around the green die cut.  I stamped the sentiment (stamp by Northwoods) onto the lime label and trimmed the top and bottom of the lime so that there was a border of pink.  A Recollections butterfly and rhinestones complete the design.

Have a great day...finally Spring is on the way!

Pattern Girls Twinchie

My BFF, Deb Moon, sent me some vintage dress patterns that she rescued from an antique store.  She had lovingly researched each pattern, cataloged them on a spreadsheet and placed them in protective plastic sleeves.  I chose this pattern to make a twinchie (2"x2") for a swap I'm in.  I added a piece of the actual tissue pattern, some bias-cut material (another gift from Deb), some buttons and a scissor brad.  Of course my pattern girls were shrunk down to size, fuzzy cut and popped up on foam tape.  The ink is Barn Red Distress ink by Ranger and the stamp is by Crafty Secrets.

Vintage Kitchen Twinchie

Marge has made Herman's favorite dinner---Tuna Balls & Macaroni Casserole.  You can see the look of delight on Herman's face.  Later on tonight she'll hit him up for that new pair of high heels she saw in the Sears & Roebuck catalog---Marge just has to have them and besides, they're on sale!!!

Image is from the net, paper is DCWV.  Her hair flower is a nail decal from the dollar store and the "tuna balls" are tiny holeless beads.

Hope there's something more exciting than tuna balls on your menu tonight.
